The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. It falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the Chinese calendar — a lunisolar calendar, in which the months follow the moon while the year follows the sun. On that night the moon is at its fullest, and families in China come together: a meal, a mooncake cut into pieces, the full moon overhead. The festival is, above all, about reunion.
